          Take Him Down

I remember one day distinctly from elementary school. The day where I had went from the usual good guy to becoming the bad guy. Throughout most my years in elementary, I protected people from a bully, or at least I tried to protect them. This guy was three times my size, one hit and I would be down for the count, but I wasn’t afraid. This bully mainly went after the girls, which I felt was wrong. So for years, I jumped in front in front of this bully, but all he ever did was try to get around me. He never wanted to bully me. He had respect for me, and thought of me as a friend. He would only bully the girls, and this angered me. Surely, I would explode at any moment.

That’s where my story starts. I woke up in the morning, thinking the day would be great. Everything seemed perfect, but when I looked outside the weather was cold and raining, which means recess and lunch hour were going to be inside. I never liked to be forced inside. I preferred sneaking inside during recess.  Now, I was guaranteed to be in the same classroom as the bully. When I got to the school, the bully seemed different. He was in a good mood. He wasn’t angry, he wasn’t annoying, and he didn’t seem to want bully the girls. I was more confused about his mood today than anything else.

For the most part, the day went great. Classes went on as usual, and the students waited for recess as usual. The first recess, we just basically sat around the classroom. There were no arguments, no fights, and no bullying.  I thought this was because of the teacher, but it couldn’t be. I had seen students attack the teachers in this school. It was only one girl, who did, and she was gone now, but it still made you think. Anyways, the recess went by really fast. The next class was boring as usual, and by now the day was getting boring. All the students wanted to go home. We were not allowed outside, and we didn’t do much inside. We just sat inside.

The rest of the day went on as usual. It was at the end of school when everything happened. Class ended early, and we were told to just stay quiet. The bully was still in a good mood. He was singing after all. He was acting like he was a rockstar. I looked around and this didn’t seem to bother other people. It was bothering me though. I didn’t know why, he was only singing, he’s allowed to sing. But this angered me. I tried to keep my composure. I started to breath heavily and stared at my desk.
“Don’t do anything!” I told myself.

Talking to myself wasn’t working, but the school bell was going to ring in about fifteen minutes.  I only had to wait, but the bully was still singing. I was getting really annoyed. No one in class seemed to notice the bully. Did they not care? I didn’t know, but I couldn’t take any more of this.
   “Shut Up!” I yelled.
I grabbed my wallet and threw it at the bully, but I was done there. I grabbed a pencil and threw that. It was then when the teacher told me to go to the office and in good time too. I had no clue how much further I would have gone.

All I remember next was sitting down in the principal’s office. I was going to tell the truth and take my punishment. After all this was not me. I never freaked out like that before, and I knew I what did now. Just when I was about to speak, my friend Brandon came down to get me.
“Andrew was annoying him and really trying to piss everyone off in class. Andrew provoked Derrick.” He said.
This was false, I wasn’t provoked. Andrew was good today. I was the bad guy, but this didn’t matter. Brandon told me the whole class vouched for me, and Andrew was the one to be punished. I knew exactly why the class vouched for me. They finally had the opportunity to repay me for all the courage I showed toward the bully. The finally had a chance to take down the bully.
